Mozilla Foundation removes support for PoW crypto donations
Mozilla has recently updated its policy according to which it has removed support for assets running on the proof-of-work system. This sends a strong signal to the industry about the scalability of the PoW-based assets.
The website stopped accepting donations in crypto in 2022 which has been in existence since 2014 supporting various cryptos being rolled out. However, the team found that these crypto transactions are in conflict with their commitments to climate which forced the company to rethink its approach to the matter.

The payment giant Mastercard has filed 15 non-fungible token (NFT) and metaverse trademark applications under USPTO. The filing includes plans for building a virtual community for interaction with digital assets as well as processing payment cards within the metaverse.
One of the trademark filings consists of multimedia files including text, audio, artwork, and video authenticated by NFTs. Another application shows the plans for its yellow and red circles logo to be able to process card transactions for payments of various goods and services within the metaverse.

Genies, a NFT platform has raised $150 million in one of its recent funding rounds which were led by the private equity firm Silver Lake to enhance its Web3 ambitions.
